Cyril M. Scovens
M.S., MAC, Addictionologist, LCADC

I'm a Licensed Clinical Alcohol Drug Counselor and Supervisor with a Master of Science degree in Addiction Counseling from Coppin State University. I'm currently pursuing doctoral studies in Advanced Studies in Human Behavior at Capella University. As an addictionologist and strong believer in the science of addiction, I bring both clinical expertise and leadership experience to my work with individuals, families, and treatment programs throughout Maryland.

I serve as Board President of the Maryland Association of Addiction Professionals, Inc. (MAAP), an affiliate of NAADAC National, a position I've held since 2020. I also serve on the NBCC/NAADAC Minority Fellowship Program Advisory Council and work as an Expert Witness (Addictionologist) for the Baltimore City Court System. My contributions to the field have been recognized through awards including the 2018 Tuerk Conference NCADD Maryland Outstanding Service Award, and I was selected as a Fellow in the 2019 NBCC/NAADAC Minority Fellowship Program.

In addition to founding Scovens & Associates, LLC, I'm the Founder and President of CMS Institute of Addictionology, Inc., where I coordinate comprehensive addiction psychology services spanning prevention, treatment, and recovery. My clinical work addresses substance addiction, process addictions including food, internet, gaming, and gambling, as well as hoarding, self-esteem difficulties, stress management, and spirituality. My approach integrates evidence-based therapies with genuine care, creating a space where clients can address their challenges and build lives rooted in health and purpose.
